A pregnant woman was shot in the abdomen on Tuesday while sleeping in her apartment, in a fact that occurred in Jacksonville, North Florida.
The Jacksonville Police Department reported that the 20-year-old woman attack, which was not identified, was reportedly intentional.
The pregnant woman was shot at 1:15 a.m. and was in a hospital in serious condition
In the apartment where the victim resides, at Oakwood Villa Apartment, in Kona Ave. and Acme St., there were two other people, but no one else was injured.
When they took the woman to the hospital, the doctors realized she was pregnant. The baby didn’t survive.
The woman was in the latter stages of her pregnancy, police said.
Investigators also said it appears that the attacker was inside the house when the event happened and that the mother was the target of the attack.

Three adults, including the mother, were in the house sleeping when the shooting occurred, investigators told First Coast News. There doesn’t seem to be an argument that would drive violence, the police said no one is in custody.
