Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden has refused to undergo an drug analysis for possible stimulants before the first televised debate with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has used this refusal to re-sow doubt about his rival.
Trump has repeatedly questioned Biden about his age and mental agility and has even suggested that he might have senile dementia, even though he only takes three years off. On several occasions he has hinted that the former vice president will medicate to improve his interventions.
“I will firmly demand that Joe ‘The Sleepy’ Biden undergo a drug test before or after Tuesday night’s debate,” Trump raised over the weekend, ahead of the front-to-face televised that the two presidential contenders will have.
Biden has been questioned about it, to see if he accepts the proposal. “No, I have no comment,” he has responded with laughter to questions from reporters, hours after Trump’s proposal.
“Joe Biden just announced that he doesn’t take a drug test. Well, I wonder why?”
Said the president on Monday on his Twitter account, again sowing doubt about his political rival’s ability.
