It was 345 miles south-southeast of Bermuda and is predicted to make landfall in that archipelago on Monday afternoon.
Hurricane surveillance has been issued for Nova Scotia, Canada, and one is in force for Bermuda.
The NHC said Hurricane Teddy will remain a “big and powerful” hurricane and then become a post-tropical system on Tuesday.
Meteorologists also said Tropical Storm Beta could make landfall off the Coast of Texas, an area that is under storm watch just like Louisiana.

The NHC forecasts that it would make landfall on Monday night and could cause flooding by increasing the water level by three to five feet high.
A notice of cyclone surges has been issued in part of the Texas coast that have been experiencing flooding since Saturday.
Beta has sustained maximum winds of 60 mph (95 km/h) and few changes in its intensity are expected before the Texas coast arrives, once on land it will weaken.
The storm is the second to have by name a letter of the Greek alphabet in what of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, after Alpha and after the names on this year’s list with the formation of Storm Wilfred were exhausted.
